West Elementary



West Elementary is a public school that serves approximately 75 preschool - 5th school serving approximately  It is staffed by 13 certified and 14 non certified staff committed to helping our students excellence in all aspects of life. The school's curriculum and instruction has been carefully aligned with the Minnesota Academic Standards. 

West Elementary was named a United States Department of Education Blue Ribbon School in 2006 for their excellent scores in reading, writing and math.

West Elementary has made every effort to maintain effective class sizes for an optimal learning environment. The curriculum rellects sensitivity to cultural and gender diversity, as well as the remediation or enrichment needs of students. All students participate in physical education, music and computer literacy programs, which are taught by licensed specialists. West Adventure Center provides Early Childhood services for the districts four year olds five full days each week. West Elementary also provides an afterschool program for students in grades K-5.

Special Education Services are provided for autism, specific learning disabilities, speech/language therapy, emotional behavior disorders, occupational/physical therapy, mild/moderate/severe mental impairments, other health impairments and early childhood special education. Independent School district #2527 is a member of the Area Special Education in East Grand Forks, MN.
